About Us

The Yellowstone County Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission was created in the fall of 1999 by a resolution of the Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners. The goal of the Commission, comprised of twenty volunteers, is to provide a framework of support for the promotion and coordination of activities and events in Yellowstone County, Montana, for the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial, 2003-2006. The Commission will focus on education and interpretation; historically accurate and culturally sensitive events, products or media; recognition of Native American involvement; and responsible stewardship of the natural and cultural resources along the return route of Captain William Clark and his party in the Yellowstone River Valley.
