Volunteers Make it Happen
Volunteers will play a critical role in the success of this event. In fact, several volunteer committees have already formed to organize and plan the event's numerous components, which include a variety of exhibits, food and craft vendors, marketing, and hospitality.
You are invited to contact any of the committee chairs (listed on volunteer form) directly, but please also remember to print out and submit the enclosed form to Ann Boucher.

We will also need a large contingent of volunteers to work at the actual event July 22-25. They will perform critical tasks such as setting up tables, providing visitor information, and cleaning up afterwards. If you're not sure what you would like to do, submit your name anyway and we'll do our best to match you up with something you'll enjoy.
Please spread the word among your friends and family. Clark on the Yellowstone is the last major signature event planned for the commemoration of the Lewis and Clark Expedition's 200th anniversary. There are plenty of opportunities to participate and have fun -- just take your pick!
Volunteer Training - A Definite "Must"
To ensure that the event runs smoothly and that your questions are answered, all volunteers must attend at least one training session. The agenda includes an event overview, brief history of Pompeys Pillar, and a safety and security orientation. You can also learn more about possible assignments, meet event organizers, and sign your volunteer agreement (more on that later). All volunteers - even committee chairmen and already established committee members -- must attend a training session.
Volunteer training sessions will take place in the volunteer center at West Park Plaza, 1603 Grand Avenue, in Billings. If you have a group of about 20 people, we can schedule a special training at your convenience. Otherwise, please plan to attend one of the upcoming sessions:
Wednesday, June 7: 1-3 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm
Wednesday, June 21: 1-3 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm
Yes, There's Paperwork (but not much!)
Because the event will take place almost entirely at Pompeys Pillar National Monument, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, all volunteers must sign a BLM volunteer agreement. This simple document will outline your duties and provide Worker's Compensation coverage while you're volunteering.
Help Us Give Credit Where It's Due
Please track your volunteer hours on the Volunteer Hours Record chart (link below) and submit it to Ann Boucher when the event is over. This will help us gauge community involvement as well as ensure that you get some recognition for your contributions. You will receive a commemorative t-shirt to wear while you're "on duty" at the event, and you are also eligible for various awards according to the number of hours you contribute.
